Annual listhesis

Spinal anterolisthesis and retrolisthesis, whereby one vertebrae is anteriorly- or posteriorly- subluxed relative to the adjacent inferior vertebrae, is a well appreciated and common phenomenon. This has the potential effect of narrowing the spinal canal and neuroforamen. A situation has been encountered whereby a vertebral body two levels superior is displaced in the anteroposterior direction, relative to the vertebral body two levels below.

There is no true listhesis at any level.

The displacement is actually due to deformity of the vertebral body between these two. This deformity can be a function of congenital anomaly, or fracture.

This phenomenon is being referred to as a "Pseudolisthesis". Review of the literature and a case series review of antero-and retro- listhesis.

A demonstration of a "Pseudolisthesis" is also presented in this exhibit. This is an important finding to report on, and one must be aware of the entity to assess it in evaluation. It is thought that a classification for the severity of a pseudolisthesis should be sought, however, first the entity needs to be appreciated.

This exhibit illustrates the entity of "Pseudolisthesis" and provides an appreciation of its existence.Feb 01,  · Degenerative Spondylolisthesis versus Spinal Stenosis: Does a Slip Matter?
